Plan for the Next Day

Hello.

Last week, I planned to have a dinner with my friends, at one's house. We were going to make some dishes, for example, my favorite food, stew.
I can't cooking by myself, so I wanted them to help me. It was very kind of them to help many times.

I want to do things like parties, so I'm excited very much. It's exciting to have meals with someone.
I think this week will be good.

When eating, I was like a man in this photograph, perhaps. I was very deep in eating.

You don't want to die, but you know this is the only way to stop the nanobot virus. You hit the self-destruct button.

     You look up at the control room. Nick and Lisa are looking at you sadly.

Hello.
Last class, I read "BRAINSTORM", a book in the Atama-ii Books series. I want to write about it.
The main character of this story is you. You are a scientist. You make and use nanobots, which are very, very small robots. You and another scientist, Dr.Murphy, have an important operation. Nanobots are too small to see and if they got out in the world, it could be a problem.
So, you have to be careful, and can you finish this operation safely?

This scene is one end of this and I reached this first.
To stop the nanobot virus, you have to a choice, but it means you die. I felt sad by reading this, but thought that there's nothing he can do about it, too. Now, Japan has a high-technology, so it may happen like this.

I still feel scary.

A Slight Happening

Hello.

On Sunday, I tried to cook something by myself. I want to eat a cup of soup, so I decided to make "minestrone" with powder of this.
I went to grocery store for buying some vegetables, and I got home. When I opened refrigerator, I found that potatoes are missing! I thought that they are left, so I don't buy potatoes.
Since I cannot do anything, I used some mushrooms instead of potatoes.
But it was delicious, so I was happy to eat.

Tomorrow, I went shopping for potatoes.

Solar Cooking

Hello.
This time, I want to write about "Solar Cooking", a book in the Footprint Reading Library series.

The simple cookers cost about five dollars, last almost two years, and work exactly like the more costly kits.

I surprised about this. I thought that solar cookers are difficult to use and they may break immediately.
A man founded "Solar Cookers International", or "SCI" for short. They want to help stop the terrible deforestation in some countries, and make women's lives easier. 
For example, in Africa.

"They have to walk about two to three miles or so to collect wood," he says. "And then they have to tend the fire. And the smoke from that fire, it burns their eyes and chokes their lungs."

In Japan, most people don't live like this. And I knew this for the first time, too. We usually don't use solar cookers, but they play an important role in some areas.

I want to cook with solar cooker!

TRAFFIC JAMS: THE ROAD AHEAD

Hello.
Today, I want to write about "TRAFFIC JAMS: THE ROAD AHEAD", a book in the Cambridge Discovery Education Interactive Readers.

The aliens think this is really strange. Why don't people travel in the faster boxes they call trains and buses? Or live near their workplace? Do they like to sit in boxes for hours? Or aren't they very smart? 

Yes, I think so, too.
But there are many people who want to use own cars to go somewhere. So, this bring about a big problem, traffic.
To deal with this problem, many solutions are done in some countries. For example, 'carpool' and 'congestion charge'. 
Do you know 'carpool'? It is that people go to work and come home in the same car. They oftenuse a different person's car each day.

Have you ever got caught in a traffic jam, haven't you?
Please try to read this and think about "Traffic" again.

Addie's Bad Day

Hello.

Today, I want to write about "Addie's Bad Day", a level two book in the I Can Read series.

Max opened the card

and read:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MAX.

THE LEAVES FALL HERE.

THE LEAVES FALL THERE.

THE TREE IS BARE.

POOR TREE.

POOR ME.

I CANNOT COME TO YOUR

BIRTHDAY PARTY.

LOVE, ADDIE.

This is like a metaphor of Addie's hair. On the morning of Max's birthday, her father took her for haircut. When her haircut finished and she looked the floor, she thought......ALL her hair was on the floor!

So, she put her hat and she thought it's a bad day.

I thought she is very cute. Also, each picture is cute, too.

I thought that when I was a child, I may experienced like this.

What a LOTTERY!

Hello.
This time, I want to write about "What a LOTTERY!", a book in the CAMBRIDGE English Readers Starter series.

'How am I going to get to Glasgow?' He picks up the phone.
'Hello,' Rick says. 'When is the next train to Glasgow?'
'From where?' a woman asks.
'From here,' Rick says.
'Where's here?' the woman asks again.
'From Wallingford,' Rick answers.
Rick hears the woman on a computer.
'Do you live in Wallingford, sir?' she asks.
'Yes. Why do you ask?' Rick answers.
'There's no train station in Wallingford,' she says.

 This is a conversation between Rick, the main character and a woman. When I read this conversation, I laughed very much! I thought Rick is foolish person.
Rick plays the guitar and writes songs, but he isn't famous. He always think only himself, so his wife is leaving their home. He buys lottery tickets and one day, meet a person, named Barry Green, running from the police.
Is this the start of a new life for Rick......?

Rick spend happy life at ending, but I wanted it to be bad ending. I thought that he is so untidy, so he should be more reliable person.

This story is about "Lottery", but the word "Lottery" in this book means not only "tickets", I think.

The Lost Wallet

Hello.
This time, I want to write about "The Lost Wallet", a level six book in the FOUNDATIONS READING LIBRARY series.

John was very angry with his friend. "Why can't Eric understand? he thought.
He walked to Mr. Harris room, and then he stopped. He thought, "Eric is right. If I give it back to Mr.Harris, he will ask many questions. Then, I'll be in trouble. Eric will be in trouble. What can I do?

This book's character are Mr.Harris and his two students, John and Eric. One day, they watched he dropped his wallet and he didn't see it fall. Eric want to use his money, while John thinks we should back to him.
What they are going to do with his wallet......? 

The top scene is when John get back the wallet. He doesn't want Eric to be in trouble, of course himself. 
Then, how he get back Mr.Harris's wallet?

From the title, I could imagined a rough story. But I was impressed by kindness of John. The last page is heartwarming for me.

FANTASTIC CREATURES: MONSTERS, MERMAIDS, AND WILD MEN

Hello.
Today, I want to write about "FANTASTIC CREATURES: MONSTERS, MERMAIDS, AND WILD MEN", a book in the Cambridge Discovery Education Interactive Readers.

In some places, people think some birds are symbols of bad luck. Tortoises in China are good luck. Black cats are bad luck in some places and good luck in others.
Why? Maybe because people tell different stories in different places.

This book is written about ancient creatures, such as Mermaids, krakens and Nessies. Have you heard "Nessie"?
I thought that there are many stories about ancient creatures. I knew they are different in each countries, too.

Like these stories came from a person, and have been taking over present times. So, it doesn't know whether stories is true or not.

This is non-fiction story and I don't usually read this type of books, so I think this book is difficult for me. But it's easy to read and I get much information from this.

I read this and I want to know more "Fantastic Creatures".

I watched the movie both two works of it. It was very interesting, so I want to watch many times whenever I see the picture.

Stone Soup

Hello.
Today, I want to write about "Stone Soup", a book in the Folk & Fairy Tale Easy Readers series.

From the on, the people in the village shared. And their favorite thing to share was stone soup!

At first, people in the village didn't like to share something and everyone says "NO!" about sharing. But a visitor came to this town and made a stone soup, and people like to share stone soup.

I don't know why people don't like to share, but the picture in this book which is after sharing soup seems very fun. 
I feel happy to read this.

It is a short story, so please try to read.

This Weekend

Hello.

This weekend, I did ......nothing.
I slept for many more times than usual and I played games with smartphone. I like a puzzle games, I played it a whole day. Of course, it's good for me to go outside, but I spent a nice weekend and took a rest.

It becomes hotter and I don't like summer much. 

But I want to enjoy this week. 

Rest is the most important for me!
